2025 Comprehensive Master Plan Update
The Cary Park District Comprehensive Master Plan is a five-year roadmap that guides how parks, facilities, programs, and resources will be maintained, improved, and expanded through 2031. This plan helps ensure that investments are thoughtful, data-driven, financially responsible, and aligned with the evolving needs of the community.
The Master Plan provides a long-range view of how the Park District can continue to offer high-quality experiences while balancing community expectations, operational realities, and long-term sustainability.
The plan was developed through an extensive planning process that included community engagement, data analysis, and collaboration with Park District staff, leadership, and the Board of Commissioners. Residents shared feedback through surveys and public engagement opportunities, helping identify priorities and ideas for the future of Cary’s parks, facilities, and recreation services.
In addition to community input, the planning process included a comprehensive review of the Park District’s parks, amenities, programs, and facilities, along with an evaluation of demographic trends, recreation participation patterns, and best practices in parks and recreation planning. This combined approach ensures the Master Plan reflects both the needs of today’s residents and the opportunities for the future.
The result is a clear, strategic roadmap designed to help guide decision-making, support long-term planning, and continue enhancing the parks, programs, and experiences that make Cary a great place to live, play, and connect.
