Activities in September
Lunch Out Group
Join the Cary Park District for lunch and great socialization at area restaurants. On Tuesday, September 26, we will be dining at Lazy Dog Restaurant in Vernon Hills. You may take the Cary Park District bus from the Community Center or drive on your own and meet the group at the restaurant. The bus ride costs $5 for Cary Park District residents and $6 for non-residents, and will depart from the Community Center at 11:15 am. The reservation at the restaurant is for 12:00 pm. Meals are ordered off the menu and each participant pays for their own. Whether you are taking the bus or meeting at the restaurant, registration through the Park District is required to be included in the overall reservation count.
Souper Duper Fridays
Enjoy a delicious bowl of soup and bingo on Friday, September 8. Bingo begins at 10:00 am and is $2 per bingo card. During the break, we will have free soup available for you to enjoy. You must register to attend. Souper Duper Fridays are sponsored by The Pointe at Eastgate.
Armchair TravelerSpend a couple of hours on an epic adventure. Experience all the sights, sounds, and culture and never leave your seat.
On Tuesday, September 12, we will travel to Australia & New Zealand. Join us from 11:30 am – 1:30 pm at the Community Center for this exhilarating presentation. Registration is required.
FRIENDS Themed Lunch and Trivia, plus Bingo
The iconic TV show ‘Friends’ always used food to great comedic value throughout the series. Because of its debut on September 22 in 1994, we are celebrating that day from 11:00 am-2:00 pm with lunch at the Community Center. Registration is $15 for Cary Park District residents and $17 for non-residents. Registration deadline is September 15 and refunds will not be issued after the deadline.
Bunco & Pot Luck Lunch
Join in on the fun of Bunco Friday with games of bunco accompanied by a potluck lunch! We will start with a quick refresher on the rules, and then begin playing shortly after. Ante is $5 per person to be paid at the event, cash only. All levels are welcome. You must register and bring a dish to share at the event. This event will be held on Friday, September 15 between 10:00 am-1:00 pm. The registration deadline is September 8.
Royal Oaks for Apple Picking & Lunch
Spend a beautiful fall day outside in Harvard, IL. For lunch, we will dine on a self-pay meal in the Country Restaurant. Throughout the trip, there will be plenty of time to explore the Country Store Market, the Royal Oak Bakery, and the Sweet Shop. This trip will be held on Thursday, September 14 between 11:15 am-4:00 pm. Moderate walking is required. The fee is $20 for Cary Park District residents and $25 for non-residents. The registration fee includes transportation by Park District Bus and a bag for apple picking. Registration deadline is September 7 and refunds will not be issued after the deadline.
High Tea and Lunch in Long Grove
Pinkies up and let’s have tea! Enjoy a four course traditional tea with hosts from ‘High Tea with Gerri’ in Long Grove, IL. We will also make time for shopping at a few local stores. Walking is self-paced. This trip will be held on Tuesday, August 29 from 10:15 am – 3:30 pm. Registration is $60 for Cary Park District residents and $65 for non-residents. Shopping is self-pay. Transportation is via Park District Bus. The registration deadline is September 29 and refunds will not be issued after the deadline.
Little Shop of Horrors
Join us on Skid Row as meek and mild Seymor Krelborn makes a living at the local flower shop. One day, he discovers a strange and unusual plant he names Audrey II – one that feeds on human blood. This trip will be held on Wednesday, September 20 between 10:00 am-5:30 pm. We will be travelling to Paramount Theaters in Aurora, IL to watch the musical. The fee is $55 for Cary Park District residents and $60 for non-residents. Lunch will be on your own and self-pay at a local restaurant. Transportation will be via Park District Bus. The registration deadline is September 8 and refunds will not be issued after the deadline.
