Join us for lunch and great socializing at area restaurants. Come alone or bring friends – all are welcome! Lunch is off the menu and self-pay. Transportation is by Park District bus and return time is approximate. Advanced registration is required for all participants. Register here.

Senior Day Trips – North Shore Bakery Tour
Take your tastebuds on a flavorful tour of North Shore bakeries. What’s your baked goods go-to? Buttery croissant? Fresh, warm donut with special sprinkles? Find it all as we tour the North Shore with delicious goodies at every stop. We will have lunch at the iconic Buck Russell’s (named for John Candy’s character in Uncle Buck). Let us do the driving as you soak in all the sweet, delicious treats, along with some history as we bus through the North Shore.
Itinerary Highlights –
Stop 1 – Dip and Sip Donuts, Glenview
Get a signature donut of your choice and a 12oz drip coffee
Stop 2 – Eva Dean’s, Wilmette
Macaron trio (lemon, pistachio, and vanilla) along with history and tour of the shop
Stop 3 – Buck Russell’s, Evanston
Lunch Specials include (choose one): Northshore Turkey Club, Uncle Billy, Caprese (vegetarian), Blackened Chicken Caesar Wrap, Garden Salad – choice of blackened chicken or tuna salad as protein (optional)
All lunches come served with a pickle spear, chips (original), and side coleslaw
Beverage options include: iced tea, drip coffee, coke, diet, sprite, or La Croix from a self serve beverage station
Dessert tray available after lunch
Stop 4 – Hewn Bakery, Evanston
Your choice of a Kouign Amann if you want a caramelized, crispy, and buttery pastry with a salty-sweet flavor, or a Pain Suisse if you prefer a brioche-like dough filled with rich pastry cream and chocolate chips
Stop 5 – Great Harvest Bakery, Evanston
The final stop of the day, with your choice of the daily scone or bread
Minimal walking is involved with this trip; however, the ability to get in and out of the bus multiple times is required. Transportation is by Park District bus.
