Red Cross Babysitting Training Course
This two day course will provide the information and skills necessary for safe and responsible childcare in the absence of parents or guardians. This training will help participants develop skills in five critical areas: leadership, safety and safe play, basic care, first aid, and professionalism. American Red Cross Babysitters Training Course and Basic First Aid cards will be awarded upon successful completion of this course. Participants should bring a drink, snack, and baby doll or stuffed animal to each session.
This two day course meets on Saturday (3/13) from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm and Sunday (3/14) from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm.

Lock-In at Brunswick Zone XL (Teens)
Brunswick Zone XL is staying open late just for this cooperative youth and teen outing. Play cosmic bowling, unlimited laser tag, video games, billards, and fill up on pizza and soda. When morning comes enjoy donuts before you leave. Fee includes event ticket, transportation, and chaperones. Bring money for additional attractions and food. All participants must follow the rules established by Brunswick Zone. Transportation leaves from and returns to the Community Center. Registration deadline is March 5.

Band Bash (Teens)
Come out and listen to some great local bands. Four bands will have the opportunity to play a thirty minute set and showcase their talents. Support your favorite band or find new favorites. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. Once you enter the event, re-entry is prohibited.

If your band is interested in playing, a completed Band Bash entry form must be submitted. Entry forms will be available on the Park District website, www.carypark.com beginning February 1. Priority will be given to bands within the Cary Park District boundaries.

Knock the Dust Off Adult Men's 12" Softball Tournament
Get your team together and compete in this one day double elimintion tournament that give you the opportunity to "knock the dust off" from the cold winter months. Any adult 12" mens softball team can register - with a maximum of 8 teams allowed in the tournament. Games will begin the morning of April 17 and run throughout the day.

Registration packets are availble online in the Sports League section or can be picked up at the Community Center. Registration runs through April 9 and is accepted at the Community Center. The number of teams registered will determine tournament format.

Team Fee: $100 for residents/$150 for non-residents
75% of the team roster must reside within the Cary Park District boundaries to receive the resident rate. [more]

Family Kite Fly
Help us celebrate National Kite Flying month and the beginning of spring! You may bring your own kite or choose to purchase a kite craft kit onsite. Participate in a kite flying contest or fly on your own. Categories may include biggest kite, smallest kite, highest flying kite, and most unusual kite. Pre-registration is necessary for competing kite flyers.

It's rocket science for kids in the hands-on exploratory workshop for sky-climbing enthusiasts! Explore Newton's Law of Physics, how they apply to rocketry, and have a blast learning the science behind blasting off! Everyone will build a real model rocket to take home, plus be able to launch several types of Mad Science rockets. The Safety Code of Model Rocketry will also be taught. These two events give local teen bands the opportunity to play in a concert format with other bands in front of a live audience.
