Battle of the Bands
The Cary Park District and the Cary Area Public Library are excited to host an afternoon of local teen talent. Local bands will have a chance to compete against their peers and possibly move on to play at the State Battle of the Bands during the Illinois State Fair. Information packets with entry form and rules will be available at the Community Center and online at www.carypark.com on January 16. Spots are limited. Interested bands must submit a completed entry form beginning January 31 to the Cary Park District. Bands will be selected in order the completed entry forms are received. [more]

Beginners will learn to read notes and count out rhythms while enjoying the unique sounds of digital keyboards. As students progress, they will learn chords, build sight-reading skills, and have fun playing pop, blues, jazz and classical music. Develop better focus, concentration, and memory that leads to better success in school. Keyboards are provided for classroom use. Lessons are held between 2:30 - 6:30 pm and are 30 minutes long. Fun with Phonics
What a fun, exciting, and creative way to learn to read! Fun with Phonics offers an innovative way to teach children to read using music and multi-sensory techniques. This program accommodates children of all learning styles so that they have the opportunity to become a confident and passionate reader.

Level 1: Children will learn the sound of each letter and how to decode and read words. They will become familiar with word patterns using art, music, and games so they can read while having fun! Children in Level 1 need to recognize upper and lowercase letters.

Fun With Phonics
What a fun, exciting, and creative way to learn to read! Fun with Phonics offers an innovative way to teach children to read using music and multi-sensory techniques. This program accommodates children of all learning styles so that they have the opportunity to become a confident and passionate reader.

Level 1: Children will learn the sound of each letter and how to decode and read words. They will become familiar with word patterns using art, music, and games so they can read while having fun! Children in Level 1 need to recognize upper and lowercase letters.
