Prairie Walk
In recognition of Conservation Day, Phil Stanko, biologist and local naturalist, will lead a prairie walk while describing prairie plants, birds, insects of Sands-Main Street Prairie and stories of the families, buildings and features of Wallace Farm. Bring the whole family and learn the interesting history and fascinating dynamics of one of Cary’s rarest sites and most unique parks. The walk will be about an hour and be tailored to those in attendance. It will be a short distance and be an easy walk for all ages. Feel free to bring water and bug spray.

Sands Main Street Prairie is located on East Main Street, east of Decker Drive. Meet by the barn next to the main parking lot.

Hershey Track & Field Meet
The Cary Park District and the Hershey Company present the Hershey's National Track & Field Youth program for ages 9 - 14 years. Events include 50, 100, 200, and 400 meter dashes, 800 and 1600 meter runs, 4 x 100 relays, standing long jump, and softball throw. Local winners may be eligible to advance to the state meet or even the national finals in Hershey, PA.

Because this is a national program, age refers to child's age as of December 31, 2013.

Family Kite Fly
Saturday, April 19 from 10:00 - 11:00 am at Lions Park
Bring your kite and help us celebrate National Kite Flying Month and the arrival of spring! Fly on your own or participate in a kite flying contest where the categories may include biggest kite, smallest kite, highest flying kite, and others. Information on the Illinois Park District Youth License Plate will be available at the event

 

 

Community Garden Plots Available for Rent
Do you like to garden, but don't have the space at home? Rent a 20 x 30 foot plot at Hoffman Park and grow your own vegetables, fruits, herbs, plants, and flowers. more

 

Athletic Field Update
The athletic fields at Lions Park (plus the bowl area), Galaway Park, Kaper Park, and Cary-Grove Park will open on Saturday, April 19, weather permitting.
