Local bands will have a chance to compete against their peers and possibly move on to play at the State Battle of the Bands during the Illinois State Fair. As students progress, they will learn chords, build sight-reading skills, and have fun playing pop, blues, jazz and classical music. What a fun, exciting, and creative way to learn to read! Fun with Phonics offers an innovative way to teach children to read using music and multi-sensory techniques. This program accommodates children of all learning styles so that they have the opportunity to become a confident and passionate reader.
Level 1: Children will learn the sound of each letter and how to decode and read words. They will become familiar with word patterns using art, music, and games so they can read while having fun! Children in Level 1 need to recognize upper and lowercase letters.
Level 2: Children will learn blends and long vowel word patterns. Board games will be used to build better writing skills in a creative way and increase their fluency. Level 2 is for children who already know the word patterns for Level 1.
