Learn what it takes to make theater magic happen in a fun, yet driven environment. Students audition for a role in the play, are cast by the director, and will rehearse until show time. All students are guaranteed a speaking role in the play. Students will also play games while working on impromptu, projection, and listening skills. Students must be available for all rehearsals and the performance day. Tech week will take place the entire week preceding the performance. Additional rehearsals may be scheduled as needed. The performance will be held on November 4.

Minecraft EngineeringDoes your child enjoy Minecraft? Imagine if children learn civil engineering and city planning principles while they are in a Minecraft world. Students work as civil engineers and city planners to design and create a structured city that includes roads, bridges, city zones, housing, government buildings, businesses, and more in a Minecraft world. The session ends with a presentation of the students’ city. Students should have a basic understanding of how to use a computer, a mouse, and have basic working knowledge of Minecraft. Each student needs a computer, a Minecraft/Microsoft account, and Minecraft Java Edition installed on a supported computer connected to the Internet for this online class. Minecraft is used as a tool for hands-on learning. We inspire future engineers using Minecraft. Day and time will be arranged with parent and staff after registration.

Develop a different and more expressive appreciation for vegetables as we draw veggie expressions in October. In November, weirder means better as we draw unusual pets. iSTEAM: Chemical ReactionsOur fall session is dedicated to learning all about chemical reactions. Students will learn how to identify a chemical reaction. We will conduct fun experiments involving color changing, making things foam, and changing color and shape. At the end of the course, students will understand pH levels, non-Newtonian fluid, what a catalyst is, and so much more! Our young scientists are encouraged to ask questions, think critically, experiment, and explain their reasoning and problem-solving. As a result, they will deepen their collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking skills, as well as their understanding and interest in science.

Learn to CodeStudents learn programming essentials using MIT’s Scratch coding language using a simple visual interface. A multilevel curriculum starts with children learning the basics of programming. Students program interactive media projects, such as stories, games, and animations. The activities encourage exploration of key computational thinking concepts (sequence, loops, parallelism, events, conditionals, operators, data) and key computational thinking practices (experimenting and iterating, testing and debugging, reusing and remixing, abstracting and modularizing). Since this class is a multilevel program where children are placed based on skill and experience, students can repeat this class as they start where they left off from the last class. Students should be familiar with using a computer. Each student needs a computer connected to the internet for this online class. Day and time will be arranged with parent and staff after registration.

Ebenezer's Christmas CarolCommunity Center255 Briargate RoadCary, IL 60013Join Children’s Theater Company of Cary for our special holiday production of Ebenezer’s Christmas Carol! 2nd grade-9th grade can sign up for a part in this fun and festive performance. Auditions will be held the first day of class and everyone will have a speaking role. You will be contacted by the show director via email prior to the first meeting date to organize script pick-up. Participants are expected to memorize their lines by December 1st.
Participants must be able to attend the show and rehearsals. Rehearsals are Tuesday/Thursday, 11/15, 11/17, 12/12, and 12/13 from 5:45-7:30 pm and Tuesday/Thursday, 11/29, 12/1, 12/6, and 12/8 from 5:45 - 7:00 pm. No class 11/22, 11/24. Performance date 12/14.

Lunch Out Group

Lunch Out GroupJoin us for lunch and great socializing at area restaurants. Come alone or bring a friend! Lunch is off the menu and self-pay. Drive yourself, carpool, or take the Park District bus for $5 ($6 NR). The bus leaves the Community Center at 11:15 am. Advanced registration is required. Registration deadline is one week prior to event date. Refunds will not be issued after the deadline.
Today we will be dining at Biaggi's in Algonquin.
