Kaper ParkDevelop new skills and confidence in a total sports class! This class features a new sport each week. Some of the sports taught and played include basketball, floor hockey, football, kickball, soccer, and baseball. In addition, participants play popular running and group games.

Community Center255 Briargate RoadCary, IL 60013Develop confidence, creativity, and stage presence while participating in a Cary Park District directed performance. Learn what it takes to make theater magic happen in a fun, yet driven environment. Students audition for a role in the play, are cast by the director, and will rehearse until show time. All students are guaranteed a speaking role in the play. Students will also play games while working on impromptu, projection, and listening skills. Students must be available for all rehearsals and the performance day. Tech week will take place the 10/30-11/3. Additional rehearsals may be scheduled as needed. Performance date is November 3.

Kaper ParkPlayers experience daily scrimmages with active instruction and tips from the coaching staff. Players are encouraged to employ skills used in football such as running pass routes, play calling, defensive positioning, fundamentals of blocking, and pass coverage. These skills and others will be put to use in a “game time” environment while the players scrimmage each week.

This fun program will allow your child to release energy, make friends, and keep moving. Players will be placed on a team prior to the first practice. Each participant should bring shin guards and will receive a t-shirt. Registration deadline is 8/30. Make up day is scheduled for 10/14.

This program teaches throwing mechanics, as well as, batting stance, bat positioning, and speed using both live pitching and hitting off the tee. Players learn various positions in the field through game play and the basics of game strategy. Players should bring their own gloves and be ready for a fun, fast paced learning environment.

Students in these classes will form bonds with their classmates through the storytelling of each song played and the emotions they are asked to convey. Classes include improvisation, floor work, combinations, center, across the floor, partner lifts, and more.

Hip-Hop is a style of dance constantly evolving with the culture of hip-hop music. Classes learn all different styles of hip-hop by doing different combinations each week from different genres. Dancers use some breaking moves and tricks to enhance the dances.

There are plenty of benefits to immersing yourself in nature through a forest therapy walk (also called forest bathing). You can reduce stress, lower blood pressure, boost immunity, and increase feelings of calm and gratitude. Walks are not strenuous and cover less than half a mile. Participants will be guided through a series of gentle invitations to slow down, be present, and explore nature through the senses. The program will finish with a “forest tea” featuring tea made from locally harvested plants. Each walk will be different, so feel free to join more than one! There are plenty of benefits to immersing yourself in nature through a forest therapy walk (also called forest bathing). You can reduce stress, lower blood pressure, boost immunity, and increase feelings of calm and gratitude. Walks are not strenuous and cover less than half a mile. Participants will be guided through a series of gentle invitations to slow down, be present, and explore nature through the senses. The program will finish with a “forest tea” featuring tea made from locally harvested plants. Each walk will be different, so feel free to join more than one! This session will be held at Sands Main Street Prairie in Cary.

Zumba & Zumba Toning
Community Center255 Briargate RoadCary, IL 60013This workout is perfect for those who want to party but will also put extra emphasis on toning and sculpting to define those muscles! We will add lightweight maraca-like toning sticks to enhance your sense of rhythm and coordination while toning target zones, including arms, core, and lower body for 30 minutes of the class. The challenge of adding resistance by using Zumba Toning sticks helps you focus on specific muscle groups, so you (and your muscles) stay engaged.
The program will be held on Sundays, 11/12 - 12/17 between 9:00-10:00 am.

All materials are provided and each child receives a magic kit to take home. Children are grouped by age and always learn tricks that are age-appropriate. Additionally, you can sign up for this class again and again since brand new tricks are taught each session. This class is held at the Rotary Building, 431 Walkup in Crystal Lake.
