Current research has shown a strong link between chess and academic performance in a variety of areas including mathematics and language arts. Chess has been proven to enhance children’s motivation, concentration, focus, social skills, and creativity. Each class will consist of a fun, interactive teaching period and guided practice time. Both beginner and experienced players are welcome and will learn under the guidance of an experienced Chess Scholars coach. This program is a co-op with Crystal Lake Park District and the Lake in the Hills Park & Recreation Department.
The program will be held Monday - Friday, July 8 - 12 between 9:00 am - Noon.

Our instructors will keep dancers engaged by exploring a variety of disciplines through their time. They will learn new techniques in ballet, jazz, hip hop, lyrical, Broadway, and more. Please bring a water bottle and a small healthy snack each day.

Young Rembrandts Jr. Art Camp - Curious Chimps Get Creative

Each day a different Curious George book will be read with the students. Afterwards, children will draw a Young Rembrandts lesson which incorporates one aspect of the book just read together. Children’s creativity and imagination will play together as students bring their favorite books to life through their detailed drawings. Enroll your curious artist today!

We all learn together while engaging in active, creative, music-based activities, while using rhythm instruments and movement props. All class procedures are designed to keep staff and students safe. Activities are age appropriate by class and include songs and rhymes, rhythm and coordination, fine and gross motor, imagination and sensory, listening and following direction skills. Sing, dance, play, learn, and imagine with us!

Children will learn the game of tennis in a fun and encouraging atmosphere while learning proper grip, body positions, rules, and basic strokes. Intermediate players will review the basic strokes and work on lobs, overheads, and serves. All participants will receive a T-shirt.

Kaper ParkCool off with the Cary Area Public Library for a Splash Pad Storytime at Kaper Park. The storytime will feature stories, rhymes, music, and movement followed by the Splash Pad opening at 10:00 am. Registration is not required.

Community Center255 Briargate RoadCary, IL 60013Jazz is a style of dance incorporating grand body movements such as kicks, jumps, leaps, turns, tricks, etc. to enhance its choreography. Ballet technique is used to execute movements with proper technique and body placement. Our jazz classes include several different categories including but not limited to jazz/funk, contemporary jazz, commercial jazz, and more. Hip-Hop is a style of dance constantly evolving with the culture of hip-hop music. Classes learn all different styles of hip-hop by doing different combinations each week from different genres. Dancers use some breaking moves and tricks to enhance the dances.

Jaycee ParkSpend an evening at Jaycee Park Pond with your child in this brand new parent/child fishing class! This class will teach you and your child the basics of casting, unhooking fish, and baiting the hook. All equipment, supplies, and bait will be provided. No experience necessary. Only one registration is required per family.
