South Pacific at Paramount Theatre
“If you don’t have a dream, how you gonna have a dream come true?” Winner of 10 Tony Awards, including Best Book and Best Score, South Pacific is a sweeping musical set against the backdrop of a tropical island during World War II. Amid ocean breezes and the roar of B-29 bombers, Ensign Nellie Forbush and Lt. Joseph Cable find themselves caught between duty and desire, navigating war, romance, and the realities of a divided world. This beloved Rodgers and Hammerstein classic challenges prejudice and celebrates the beauty of cultural understanding, all while delivering some of Broadway’s most iconic songs – “Some Enchanted Evening,” “I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Outa My Hair,” and “Bali Ha’i.” South Pacific remains a powerful, resonant story about love, sacrifice, and the dreams that carry us forward. Lunch will be self-pay at Two Brothers Roundhouse. Transportation is by Park District bus. Minimal walking is involved with this trip.
