The majority of the time is spent outdoors, where children can play, stay active, build independence, develop life skills, make new friends, and create lasting memories. In addition to arts and crafts, sports, and games, campers will have the chance to explore nature through fishing, hiking, and scavenger hunts. Weekly swim days and field trips are also part of the fun.
Our camp counselors are a mix of experienced and enthusiastic high school students, college students, and adults. They foster a non-competitive environment where kids can relax, have fun, and simply enjoy being kids. Many of our counselors have been with the Park District and camp program for several years.
Youth Rowing Camp–

Sometimes referred to as “meditation in motion”, benefits of the practice include balance, strength, flexibility, and improved cardiovascular health. The class will end with a relaxing focused practice with verbal guidance and imaging, sending participants away with a positive and relaxed vibe. This is a beginner level class. Fortunately, science shows that combining nature and mindfulness is one of the most effective ways to lower stress and quiet the mind. This guided 90-minute hike helps you recharge using both practices. Mindfulness hikes are appropriate for all fitness levels. You must be able to walk for a sustained period of time on uneven, but relatively flat terrain. The event will include hiking, standing stretches, guided meditations, and light refreshments.
