Take part in a slow, mindful walk that will help you awaken your senses and connect with nature. There are plenty of benefits to immersing yourself in nature through a forest therapy walk (also called forest bathing). You can reduce stress, lower blood pressure, boost immunity, and increase feelings of calm and gratitude. Walks are not strenuous and cover less than half a mile. Participants will be guided through a series of gentle invitations to slow down, be present, and explore nature through the senses. The program will finish with a “forest tea” featuring tea made from locally harvested plants. Each walk will be different, so feel free to join more than one!

Nobody wants ants at their picnic! We also don’t want A.N.T.S. (Automatic Negative Thought System) in our day-to-day life. When we are anxious or sad in life, negative thoughts tend to crawl into our mind. This workshop will teach how to flip A.N.T.S. off your party of life and proceed with a positive outlook into the school year. Dramatizations and highly motivating group games such as “Spritz It”, “Flip-a-Roni”, and “Balloon Bust”, facilitated by a life coach, will make this class memorable, meaningful, hilarious, and social. Themed souvenirs help reinforce the concepts from workshop to home. This is a co-op program with Crystal Lake Park District and the Lake in the Hills Recreation Department.
