Summer Youth Athletics

Adult/Tot Sports

Parents are an integral part of helping their tots develop basic sports movement and motor skills. Motor skill activities focus on hand/eye and hand/foot coordination. Sports equipment and instruction are provided to help guide your child through an introduction to organized sports. Parent or caregiver participation required. No class 7/1 Ages: 2 – 4 years with parent/caregiver. Location: Kaper Park

Total Sports

Develop new skills and confidence in a total sports class! This class features a new sport each week. Some of the sports  taught and played include football, kickball, soccer, and baseball. In addition, participants play popular running and group games. No class 7/2 Age: 5 – 7 years Location: Kaper Park

Mini Total Sports Camp

Children are introduced to the fundamentals of sports including basketball, floor hockey, football, kickball, soccer, t-ball and other sports and group games. This camp provides an opportunity for each child to develop motor skills and nurture his/her growth socially and emotionally through teamwork and good sportsmanship. Campers should bring a water bottle each day. Every camper will receive a t-shirt. Age: 3 – 4 years Location: Kaper Park

Total Sports Camp

This camp focuses on a variety of sports including flag football, basketball, baseball, kickball, soccer, capture the flag, and other group games. Each day camper’s focus on skill development and fundamentals for each respective sport, followed by game play. Coaches ensure a fun and energetic atmosphere while promoting teamwork and good sportsmanship. Campers should bring a snack and water bottle each day. Every camper will receive a t-shirt. Ages: 5 – 11 years Location: Kaper Park

T-Ball

Introduce your child to America’s favorite pastime! Children will run, catch, throw, and hit off a tee while releasing energy, gaining independence, and making friends. Each participant will be placed on a team prior to the first practice. Each player should bring a glove and will receive a t-shirt and hat. Registration deadline 7/2. Make up day is scheduled for 8/16. Ages: 3 – 6 years Location: Lions Park Softball Fields

Youth Soccer

Introduce your child to the sport of soccer. Children will run, kick, and learn the game. This fun program will allow your child to release energy, make friends, and keep moving. Players will be placed on a team prior to the first practice. Each participant should bring shin guards and will receive a t-shirt. Registration deadline is 7/2. Make up day is scheduled for 8/16. Chicago Fire Soccer – Little Sparks

Little Sparks facilitates a child’s physical, mental, and social-emotional development through the use of imaginative themes and activities. Players will learn fundamental soccer skills, develop fundamental movement skills, and experience key social and emotional attributes. Ages: 2 – 4 years Location: Lions Park Soccer Fields

Chicago Fire Soccer – Little Sparks+

Little Sparks+ uses some of the same key principles of Little Sparks to build an environment for children to learn and explore. Little Sparks+ evolves its focus from self-awareness to social awareness as children learn to work tighter as teammates through small-sided games and scrimmages. Ages: 5 years Location: Lions Park Soccer Fields

Chicago Fire Soccer Camp

Through small group instruction, certified, professional coaches will guide campers through activities structured around daily themes, including dribbling, attaching, and defending. Coaches will also incorporate their nationally recognized SEL (Social & Emotional Learning) curriculum with a focus on traits and values like self-awareness, responsible decision making, and teamwork. Ages: 6-14 years Location: Lions Park Soccer Fields

Jr. Flag Football

Start playing the nation’s most loved game! Players are introduced to stance, receiving, rushing, blocking, and defense. Each week ends with a scrimmage encouraging teamwork and sportsmanship. Players get to play either receiver or running back each week. Games focus on fundamentals, field concepts, positions, and mechanics. No equipment necessary. No class 7/4 Ages: 6 – 8 years  Location: Lions Park

Game Time Flag Football

Players experience daily scrimmages with active instruction and tips from the coaching staff. Players are encouraged to employ skills used in football such as running pass routes, play calling, defensive positioning, fundamentals of blocking, and pass coverage. These skills and others will be put to use in a “game time” environment while the players scrimmage each week. No class 7/4 Ages: 9 – 12 years Location: Lions Park

Jr. Disc Golf

Dive into disc golf and learn forehand, backhand, thumber, and roller throws. Participants will learn a wide range of mental and physical skills to enjoy the sport of disc golf at both the recreational and competitive level. All equipment is provided. No class 7/3 Ages: 7 – 13 years Location: Walnut Hollow Disc Golf Course – Hoffman Park

Jr. Trojan Run Club

Join current and former Cary-Grove High School athletes and coaches to run, train, and learn the art of short and long distance running. The program will focus on learning skills, improving overall health, and most importantly having fun. Earn daily tokens by completing laps on our course and ultimately finish a 5K run on our final day of the program. Family and friends are encouraged to run daily with the group and complete the 5K with your child. Rain plan: If Tuesday is cancelled, class will be made up the next day (Wednesday). If Thursday class is cancelled, class will be made up the following Monday. No class 6/24 & 6/26 Ages: 6 – 10 years  Location: Cary-Grove high School Track

Sand Volleyball Camp

Receive a solid foundation on the fundamentals of beach volleyball through fun and active drills. This class includes instruction on all major volleyball skills: serving, passing, setting, and attacking. Daily scrimmages will allow players to use these skills in a game environment.
