Cary, Illinois – The Cary Park District’s Kraus Senior Center, 441 W. Main Street, offers a wide variety of low-cost programs, events and trips for seniors. Senior Center hours are 8:30 am to
1:30 pm Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. For more information about the events and programs at the Senior Center call 847-639-8118. All programs take place at the Senior Center unless otherwise noted.

Holiday Ornament Making
Decorate for the season with your own handmade creation! Join us as we create beautiful ornaments to display on your tree or to give as gifts. Class is held Tuesday, December 3, from 9:30-10:30 am. Cost is $18 for residents and $20 for non-residents. Registration is required.
Decorations with Periwinkle Florist
Decorate for the season with your own handmade creation! Join us as we create beautiful decorations for your home. Class is held Wednesday, December 4, from 11:00 am-12:30 pm. Cost is $18 for residents and $20 for non-residents. Registration is required.
Stop by the Senior Center for tables of great gifts for just under $10. Pick up last minute gifts for friends and family. Again this year, pre-made gift baskets will be for sale from the Women of Faith Community Church. If you are interested in selling your handmade creations, please contact Missi for details at 847-639-8118. The boutique is held Thursday, December 5 from 11:00 am-1:30 pm.
Join us to trim our holiday tree and decorate the Senior Center for the holidays. After the decorating festivities, enjoy breakfast and carols sung by the students of Three Oaks School. This event is held Friday, December 6, from 10:00 am-12:30 pm at the Senior Center. Cost is $11 for residents and $12 for non-residents.
Yummy cookie creations are yours to custom decorate and eat! Class is held Tuesday, December 10, from 9:30-10:30 am. Cost is $6 for residents and $7 for non-residents. Registration is required.
Annual Senior Center Holiday Party
Celebrate the season with all your Senior Center friends. Warm up with Christmas carols and then enjoy a family style luncheon of turkey with dressing or roast sirloin of beef with au jus, cream of chicken with rice soup, mashed potato with gravy, vegetable and dessert. Santa will stop by and don’t forget about the photo booth to make sure you capture the memories. Our afternoon concludes with our famous door prize finale with a prize for everyone courtesy of local business sponsors. This event is held on Friday, December 13, from 11:00 am-3:00 pm at the D’Andrea Banquets. Cost is $25 per person for residents and non-residents. Registration is required by November 15.
Lunch Out Group
Enjoy an afternoon of food and fellowship as the “Lunch Out Group” travels to the Broken Oar in Port Barrington on Tuesday, December 17. Transportation departs from the Community Center, 255 Briargate Road, at 11:15 am and returns at approximately 2:00 pm. Meals are off the menu and self-pay. Transportation fee is $5 for residents and $6 for non-residents. Registration deadline is one week in advance of the event date and refunds are not issued after the deadline.

Friday, December 6 from 9:00 – 11:00 am; Receive a FREE blood pressure check provided by a registered nurse. No appointment necessary.

Wednesday, December 18, from 10:00 – 11:00 am. This free program offers support to those with memory concerns and their caregivers. Activities and refreshments are provided.
Friday, December 20, from 10:00 – 11:00 am; Come join the Craft Club and spread some cheer by creating cards for soldiers deployed overseas and also to create small gifts for Memory Café participants that meet monthly at the Kraus Senior Center.
Pay to Play Bingo
Friday, December 27, from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm
Cost is $2 for each packet of BINGO cards. All money collected is distributed as prizes that day. Plus, this month arrive at 9:30 am with your favorite breakfast treat and join in the breakfast potluck before bingo.
