Old Joliet Prison & Buca di Beppo
–
Old Joliet Prison & Buca di BeppoThe historic site of the old Joliet prison is just begging to be explored. That is just what you will do if you join us on this trip. We will get a 90-minute indoor and outdoor guided tour. This tour talks about the general history of the site from when it was first opened in 1858 until its closure in 2002. This historic tour is a great introduction to the prison and its history while you explore the West Cell House, North Segregation, Cafeteria and other buildings as available. You will have worked up quite an appetite after that and where better to fill up than the traditional family-style Buca di Beppo. We will have bread, salad, spaghetti, fettuccine alfredo, chicken parmigiana and dessert. Coffee, tea and soda are included. Extensive and uneven walking is involved with this trip. The prison will have some seating available, but the terrain is rough and uneven. Transportation is by Park District bus. Register here #18280

South Pacific at Paramount Theatre
–
South Pacific at Paramount Theatre“If you don’t have a dream, how you gonna have a dream come true?” Winner of 10 Tony Awards, including Best Book and Best Score, South Pacific is a sweeping musical set against the backdrop of a tropical island during World War II. Amid ocean breezes and the roar of B-29 bombers, Ensign Nellie Forbush and Lt. Joseph Cable find themselves caught between duty and desire, navigating war, romance, and the realities of a divided world. This beloved Rodgers and Hammerstein classic challenges prejudice and celebrates the beauty of cultural understanding, all while delivering some of Broadway’s most iconic songs – “Some Enchanted Evening,” “I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Outa My Hair,” and “Bali Ha’i.” South Pacific remains a powerful, resonant story about love, sacrifice, and the dreams that carry us forward. Lunch will be self-pay at Two Brothers Roundhouse. Transportation is by Park District bus. Minimal walking is involved with this trip.
