Come and hear some spooky history of one of the famous Salem Witch Trials. In 1692, a group of teenage girls began having bizarre and disturbing fits. They claimed that witches in the community were persecuting them and began naming names, accusing first the poor and vulnerable, and then the wealthy and respectable. In the following months fear gained the upper hand and legal safeguards went out the window. During the course of things, twenty people were executed. This lecture lays out the true story of one of the strangest and most painful episodes in American history. Refreshments, coffee, and water will be served. This will be presented by history instructor and continuing education professor Joyce Haworth. Registration deadline is October 23 and refunds will not be issued after the deadline.
