Lunch Out GroupJoin us for lunch and great socializing at area restaurants. Today we will be dining at Super China Buffet in Schaumburg. Participants will order off the menu and self-pay. You may drive on your own or take the Park District bus for $5 for Cary Park District residents or $6 for non-residents. The bus leaves at 11:15 am from the Community Center.
Advanced registration is required for all participants whether riding the bus or driving yourself. Registration is accepted online and at the Community Center. Registration deadline is August 13 and refunds will not be issued after the deadline.

This is the perfect event for college students, people that live in apartments and townhomes, or those that don’t have enough items or time for a weekend-long garage sale. Each registered seller will have one parking space to display and sell items. A detailed letter will be emailed to all registered sellers. Seller setup is between 8:00-9:00 am, and takedown is between 12:00-1:00 pm.

Fall Softball League - Men's Recreational

Fall Softball League - Men's RecreationalLions Park1200 Silver Lake RdCary, IL 60013Get your team together and compete in a recreational softball league. Depending on the number of teams, games are played at Lions Park with game times at 7:00 pm, 8:00 pm, and 9:00 pm. Each team will play each other twice. The number of teams registered in a particular league determines league formats. Post season playoffs are planned for the league. The league will start Thursday, August 29.
Registration packets are available here and at the Community Center. A manager’s meeting will be scheduled on the first night of the league at the fields.
Teams must be able to make all time slots available for play; there are no requests for specific game times. This league is sanctioned by the National Softball Association (NSA). 60% of the roster must reside within the Cary Park District boundaries to receive the resident rate.

Learn what it takes to make theater magic happen in a fun, yet driven environment. Students audition for a role in the play, are cast by the director, and will rehearse until show time. All students are guaranteed a speaking role in the play. Students will also play games while working on impromptu, projection, and listening skills. Students must be available for all rehearsals and the performance day. Tech week will take place 10/28-11/1. Additional rehearsals may be scheduled as needed. Performance date is November 1.

This cozy restaurant serves cafeteria style and features made from scratch hot entrees, salads, sandwiches, and their famous pies and desserts. The registration fee includes transportation by Park District bus and the bag for apple picking. Moderate walking is involved with this trip. Both beginner and experienced players are welcome and will learn under the guidance of an experienced Chess Scholars coach. Kids can become experts on this billion-dollar industry as they work in a team to make a batch of homemade fall-themed ice cream in a bag. Think flavors like Apple Cider Donut, Monster Mash Marshmallow, Creepy Clown Cinnamon, and Gooey Gummy Worms! Also, explore the science and history of the beloved amusement park treats, Dippin’ Dots, waffle cones, and the first novelty ice cream bar on a stick. On this tour we will begin at the rustic Starved Rock Lodge for lunch in the Main Dining Room. You will have the opportunity to make a menu selection from several savory dishes. Hot or iced tea, lemonade, or a soft drink are included. We then board a trolley to transport us to the boat ride. This is the perfect way to learn about the rich history of the Starved Rock area. We will then take a boat tour of the Illinois River and conclude with one more stop at the Lodge. There is a gift shop on site. Transportation is by Park District bus. The Salem Witch Trials and the Power of Fear (Co-Op)Community Center255 Briargate RoadCary, IL 60013Come and hear some spooky history of one of the famous Salem Witch Trials. In 1692, a group of teenage girls began having bizarre and disturbing fits. They claimed that witches in the community were persecuting them and began naming names, accusing first the poor and vulnerable, and then the wealthy and respectable. In the following months fear gained the upper hand and legal safeguards went out the window. During the course of things, twenty people were executed. This lecture lays out the true story of one of the strangest and most painful episodes in American history. Refreshments, coffee, and water will be served. This will be presented by history instructor and continuing education professor Joyce Haworth. Registration deadline is October 23 and refunds will not be issued after the deadline.
