Develop your child’s intellect through the royal game of chess! This half-day camp is perfect for both beginners and experienced players. Each day of camp will consist of a fun interactive teaching period followed by guided practice time allowing students to play against one another while coached by an instructor. Don’t let summer boredom grab your child. Keep him or her amused and productive with Young Rembrandts. Students create cartoon illustrations inspired by a tropical paradise. Humorous parrot characters, fun grass skirts and a surfing sequence are just some of the drawings our students will depict.
Then, leave your creature comforts behind as you take an adventurous trek through the forest. A Young Rembrandts class gives your child the opportunity to strengthen his or her drawing skills, our students will create cartoon illustrations inspired by animals and the woodlands they inhabit. A Yummy Lab Experience!
Making and eating ice cream is a fun way to introduce early physics and chemistry teachings to children. Kids can become an expert on this beloved treat and billion-dollar business as we make a batch of homemade ice cream in a bag. Also, explore the science of the amusement park treat, Dippin’ Dots and the first novelty ice cream treat on a stick. Then sit down or the most outrageous ice cream eating contest in town. Who will be crowned King or Queen? This is a child’s dream class that puts the fun back into learning and building self-esteem. This class explores both chemical and industrial engineering concepts, along with how this treat evolved. This class will be sticky, please dress accordingly. A themed souvenir is included.

Four fun-filled days await our students as we explore ocean life and learn to draw and color with pastels. We will create detailed, pastel compositions each day, focusing on a different ocean-themed subject. We will draw eye catching sea stars along the shoreline and a pair of vibrant clown fish. We will illustrate a sea turtle with bold patterns, and a wondrous scene of jellyfish. Grilling with friends and family is a lifestyle enjoyed across generations. From backyard barbeques to gourmet dinners, the name Weber has been synonymous with great outdoor entertainment for over 65 years. On this trip, you will have a first-hand part in the Weber expertise and passion for grilling within their three-season enclosed patio at the Cooking School by Weber Grill. Upon arrival, we will start with delicious grill fired pizza and blue cheese stuffed mushrooms, followed by a choice of cedar plank salmon, smoked Carolina glazed pork chops, or grilled bistro steak (vegetarian option is available upon request). Start playing the nation’s most loved game! Players are introduced to stance, receiving, rushing, blocking, and defense. Each week ends with a scrimmage encouraging teamwork and sportsmanship. Players get to play either receiver or running back each week. Games focus on fundamentals, field concepts, positions, and mechanics. No equipment necessary.

Players experience daily scrimmages with active instruction and tips from the coaching staff. Players are encouraged to employ skills used in football such as running pass routes, play calling, defensive positioning, fundamentals of blocking, and pass coverage. These skills and others will be put to use in a “game time” environment while the players scrimmage each week.

Try TILT Chicago, the city’s highest thrill ride tilting you 1030 feet over the city and explore the concourse showcasing Chicago’s history. After the sky-high adventure, we will walk next door to Water Tower Place, Chicago’s premier shopping destination. Its stunning seven-level atrium features more than 60 of your favorite stores and restaurants plus a mix of distinctive specialty shops and boutiques. Lunch will be self-pay at Water Tower Place. Get your team together and compete in a recreational softball league. Depending on the number of teams, games are played at Lions Park with game times at 7:00 pm, 8:00 pm, and 9:00 pm. Each team will play each other twice. The number of teams registered in a particular league determines league formats. A single-elimination tournament will follow the end of the regular season.
Registration packets are available in the Athletics section and at the Community Center. A manager’s meeting will be scheduled on the first night of the league at the fields.
Teams must be able to make all time slots available for play; there are no requests for specific game times. This league is sanctioned by the National Softball Association (NSA). 60% of the roster must reside within the Cary Park District boundaries to receive the resident rate.
