Vandalism costs the Cary Park District thousands of dollars every year. Over the past few years we have had to replace playground equipment, acid wash walls, and completely repair the washroom facilities at Cary Grove Park.
Help us protect our parks! If you see an act of vandalism please contact the Cary Police Department or Cary Park District. With your help we can avoid the costly disturbances to our play spaces.
The soccer field located near the southeast corner of Kaper Park north has been vandalized three times in the last four years with two incidents happening recently, one last fall and the second this spring. To date the vandalism has cost the District more than $1,000 to repair the field. "It took almost two years to get the grass to grow after the first incident, and then it happened again last fall", says Ben Rea, Superintendent of Park Maintenance. "We just started to rehab the damaged area from the fall when new vandalism appeared that wasn't there the previous week. We believe the grass is being killed through lighter fluid."
If you have any information regarding vandalism at Kaper Park, please contact the Park District.
