Named for former Cary Mayor August Kraus, the Senior Center offers a wide variety of programs, events and outings for our greatest generation.

 

 

Regularly Scheduled Programs Include:

• Golden Diners Club
  Hot lunch program sponsored by the Salvation Army served at 11:15 a.m. Monday - Friday. Suggested donation $2.75 for those 60 years and over, $5 for those under 60. Registration required. To join us for lunch, call the Senior Center at 847.639.6100, 24-hours in advance (by 11:00 a.m.). A monthly menu is available at the Senior Center.
• Blood Pressure Screening
  FREE blood pressure checks are provided on the first Friday of each month from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. No appointment necessary.
• Round Table Discussion Group
  This is a free program hosted in coordination with Senior Services of McHenry County. Sign up is required.
• Senior Health Insurance Program
  Counselors will assist seniors with Medicare, Medicare Supplement, HMO and long-term care insurance issues. Appointments may be made for the first Tuesday of the month. Call the Senior Center at 847.639.6100 to set up your meeting.
• Book Club
  Join the Book Club discussion group on the first Tuesday of each month. Call the Senior Center at 847.639.6100 for registration and book titles.
• Craft Club
  Crafters meet every Friday from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. to discuss projects and share ideas. The cost of supplies will vary.
• Glee Club
  Lift your spirits and raise your voice in song. No experience necessary, no tryouts and no performance pressure. Glee Club meets weekly on Tuesdays from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m.
• Poker Club
  Meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
• Bridge Club
  Meets on Fridays from 12:00 - 2:30 p.m.
• Bingo
  Played on selected Fridays at 11:45 a.m. Call the Senior Center at 847.639.8118 for dates.
• Exercise Program
  Exercise to a video created especially for the Senior Center. This free program is held Friday mornings from 10:30 - 11:00 a.m.
